And now we get to the final part of our series; the dreaded cost. I know the first thing you probably asked yourself when you started planning was “how much is this wedding going to cost us?”, but honestly, there are so many factors at play to answer that question, that it’s not easily figured out up front. I will tell you this; the average wedding costs around $28,000. Whether or not yours is “average” depends on how many guests you’ll have, location, flowers, food, vendors and the list goes on. Today I’m just going to show you a few of the different venue options around Lake Tahoe to give you a starting point when figuring out your budget.
For all of the prices listed below, they reflect a wedding held on a Saturday during peak season (May- Oct), 100 guests, outdoor ceremony and reception with passed hors’ d oeuvres and bar service. These prices are approximate and can vary slightly. This is just an “average” cost at these locations so you have an idea of what’s available around the lake.
Granlibakken Tahoe $11,000 (includes buffet dinner)
Located in Tahoe City, they have several different ceremony and reception sites to choose from, which makes this a great option for any size wedding. I like this venue because you’re covered no matter what happens with the weather since they have a large ballroom that can hold up to 300.
Zephyr Cove $13,000 (Includes 2 course plated dinner)
Located in South Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove is an outdoor only wedding venue that offers ceremonies right on the beach for up to 200 guests. It’s an absolutely stunning backdrop, but one drawback is that it’s not very private. The reception, however, can be tucked back up on the grounds, and tented for more privacy (and an additional cost).
Hellman-Ehrman Mansion $14,000
Located in the Sugar Pine Point State Park at Meeks Bay, this rustic venue offers all outdoor amenities with a lakefront ceremony area with space for up to 200, the gardens and a large gazebo. However, you do need to hire out all vendors, including caterer (approximate cost included in estimate above)
The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe $32,000 (3 course plated dinner)
Located in Truckee, the Ritz is known for it’s luxurious accommodations and amazing service, and you won’t be disappointed here. You can have anything from an intimate, private wedding to an elaborate ballroom that expands to the outside patio. If you’re thinking of a bigger wedding and want the white-glove service to give your guests the luxury wedding experience this is your place.
There are so many amazing wedding venues in Lake Tahoe, there is no way we could list them all here.
Here’s a small breakdown of additional (average) costs to consider:

Groom’s Attire: $300
Bridal Hair and Makeup: $150
Wedding Invitations (including RSVPs and postage): $600
Wedding Flowers: $2500
